Notes for Peter De Cantillon: Abandoning all of his
possessions in Bavaria, Peter fled to England in 1685 after revocation of the
edict on Nantes. He crossed Northern France at night with his family to the
English Channel which he crossed in a small boat to haven in England. In 1688 he
entered the Dutch army of King William III of Holland. In 1690 he fought in the
battle of the Boyne against his Cantillon relative's who were Catholic. He was
awarded an estate in Kilcooley Parish, the barony of Slieveardagh, South Riding,
Tipperary County, Ireland.
